Arrived in Wellington aboard the ship 'Catherine Stewart Forbes' in 1841. Born in Mardingbeach, Kent, England. Established the Mungaroa [Mangaroa] sawmill in the densely forested Hutt Valley near Kaitoke. Died on 12 Aug 18756 at Mangaroa, Upper Hutt.
