The first frame, 'To-day's best dressed people', shows a woman wearing a novelty hat complete with an orbiting satellite. In the next frame, a girl sings 'Twinkle, twinkle little star, I don't wonder what you are. Up above this earth so high, you're a Soviet-satellite-rocket-casing in the sky.' In the third frame, seven people are staring up at the night sky. Description: The Georgian State Dance Company performing in the St James Theatre, Wellington, in August 1963. Wassili Wassiliew made photograph essays of many ballet companies and Russian dance companies visiting Wellington. According to ex pupil Keith McEwing Wassili knew the Edgleys of the Australian theatre entrepreneur partnership, Edgley and Dawe who toured these companies through Australia and New Zealand. As a result he was able to get into the theatre wings and photograph the dancers in rehersal and during performances. On at least one occasion his photographs of dancers of the Bolshoi Ballet performing in Wellington were published in an international magazine (Ballet Today, May/June 1963, pp 35-36) Quantity: 124 b&w original photographic print(s).
