Arrived in New Zealand aboard the ship 'Boanerges' on 10 Sep 1860, accompanied by his wife Mrs Dwyer. Wrote to Donald McLean from Otahuhu, Napier and Wellington in 1864. On 4 Feb 1865 his Second Battalion moved to Wanganui from Wellington. Wrote to R R Strang from Camp Wanganui, 1865. Wrote to his niece Edith (Edie) Minifie on 27 Mar 1865 from Camp Wanganui.
