Description: Diagrammatic map drawn on higher ground overlooking the scene where the HMS Buffalo navy ship was wrecked ('28th July 1840, at 10 am'). Map shows the site was wrecked, in a flat, sandy beach area, the thickly wooded hills behind it, the encampment of those who were in the wrecked ship, points on the beach where parts of the ship were washed ashore, and an area of flat marshy ground. Also depicted is the neighbouring pa site (maori village) of the Chief Teraroa, ('Teraroa's hippah'), the encampment of the part of the Buffalo's crew 'who were employed in the firest, preparing the cargo, Mercury River, part of Wiritianga's pa site, as well as Mr Brown's wharf-store and settlement ('Buffalo's store's were landed there'). Signature of creator on map but hard to distinguish. Appears to be ?T. Laslett. Shows several drawings of trees, buildings at Brown's settlement, navy tents. The album is split in two, with half starting at one end, and the other half starting upside down at the other end of the album (tete-beche). Two photographs show Thomas Hunter with his son Irwin wearing army uniform, taken in 1940. Description: Photographs taken by Albert Percy Godber, chiefly between 1934 and 1947, but including copies of some of his earlier photographs. Views include trips in the North and South Islands, and views of his home and family, especially in Whiteman's Valley Road and the area around Silverstream. Also various scenes of floods (Hutt River), and storm damage. Photographs associated with roads and railways include steam locomotives, tunnels, bridges and viaducts, some under construction. Among the trip photographs are views of Ngaruawahia, including King Koroki's house (opened in 1938) and the Maori Parliament House. Description: Album belonging to T W (Thomas Watson) Brown. Scenes around New Zealand, many probably taken by Brown, some taken by the New Zealand Government Tourist Department, and some of Lake Te Anau, Lake Wakatipu, and Milford Sound taken by FGR (Frederick George Radcliffe). The first part of the album is mainly images of tramping, camping and hunting in the Orongorongo Range and the Rimutakas, with some of the people identified, including Roley Neale and W A Neale (William Augustus Neale). Other sequences of images are a number in and around Lake Waikaremoana, including several of men fishing showing their catches; climbing in the Tongariro National Park area; views of the small towns Mohaka, Mataatua; areas around Titirangi, Kawau, Hamilton and Tauranga. Description: Album of newspaper and magazine cuttings, black and white photographs, and prints of colour illustrations. Mostly connected with New Zealand native trees, and the timber industry. There are pages dealing with different native trees, and then with the various processes involved in felling the trees; transportation, including horse-drawn, logging railways, and water-born timber using dams; and timber mills. On page [7] of this album there are three personal photographs taken by John Logan Campbell from his home in Parnell, used as Christmas cards in 1900 and 1901; on page [27] is a print of a photograph originally taken by Albert Percy Godber, showing a poster in Maori warning against carelessness in lighting fires in the bush (see full information about the original, in the record at APG-1454-1/4-G).

Description: Hydrographic chart charting the course of the HMS Coromandel in the Waihou River (Thames), June 1820. Track follows the coast along Cape Colville (Wharenga), along the East Islands, with dense soundings at Ariki's Bay, Coromandel Harbour; across to the West Islands, past the 'Motu Wy Haka' Island, with soundings in the 'Tamakie' harbour and which continue to Mourangi Rock and Bay to the hot springs. Shows the ship's route out of the river at Point Rodney May 20, 1821, towards Point Jackson. Identifies pa site where 'the areekee (King) of this place is named Kiwaka, he is possessed of great power and extensive possessions', also pa site of Chief 'Tokataboo' at Wharekewa. Includes notes on navigation, topography, how the local maori navigate canoes in the river and up the streams (to the forests), numerous maori villages (pa). Description: Hydrographic chart showing the track of the Royal Admiral into and exiting the River Thames, as well as the track of Captain Cook which includes soundings from Mercury Bay, around Cape Colville and inland up the river to Bluff Cliff, and then Cook's exit past Point Rodney, the Leaning Tower and Bream Head along the West entrance. Large block of text named 'remarks' describes safe entry into harbour and best acces to trees for felling. Trees were to be used as spars.
