Morpeth, William Theodore, 1870-1961

Pioneer surveyor of Lands Department. He subdivided extensive areas of virgin forest country for settlement in Rangitikei, Taranaki, King Country. An authority on road construction in hilly or rough country, and on Maori place-names. Chief surveyor and commissioner of Crown Lands, Westland 1922. Lived at New Plymouth in retirement.
