By: Willis, Amelia, 1870?-1966; Fletcher Challenge Ltd

Reference: B-172-003

Description: Shows a rural scene with a cabbage tree in the right foreground, rising from flat ground. Part of a bush-covered hill is visible at the far right. There is a two-storeyed house with dormer windows in the middle distance under a yellow-dry hill, and outbuildings at the far left. A section or fenced road can be seen where it passes by the front of the house. The identity of the building is unknown. Label on backing board recto named the work as: "The Mission House, Waimate North", but this seems inaccurate, given the hilly topography, and the design of the house. It may be a mission house or farm house. Quantity: 1 watercolour(s). Physical Description: Watercolour, 255 x 355 mm. Provenance: Previously purchased for the Fletcher Collection, Auckland, 1977. Processing information: Deframed by the Library.
