Date: 1998

By: Shore Bennett, Beverley Doris, 1928-

Description: Shows the design for a pair of arched windows, each with three sections, depicting the parable of the Good Samaritan. The top section of the left panel shows the Celtic knot symbol of the triquetra, a symbol for trinity; the middle and bottom panel depict a cat, three tulips and a horse; in the right panel, the top section shows a cross, with what is possibly the sun behind it; the middle section shows the Samaritan supporting the Jew as he rides on the Samaritan's donkey; and the bottom section shows another, smaller cross, within irregular-sized coloured panes. The windows were designed as a memorial for St Mary's in Waipukurau. It is likely that the horse, cat and tulip motifs are of personal significance to the Liddy family, who commissioned the designs.
