A Ngati Te Ra (hapu of Ngati Toa) chief killed with Te Rauparaha's children, including his own son Taiko, at Te Wii, Ohau, by Muaupoko during the first Ngati Toa migration. He was closely associated with Te Rauparaha whose first wife, Marore, was a first cousin. Te Rauparaha later married Te Poa's daughter Te Kahuirangi while his daughter, Te Uira, was married to Te Poa's son Taiko, both of whom were killed in the above incident. Two of Te Poa's grand daughters were married to Te Rauparaha's great grandson Wi Neera Te Kanae, from whom the Wineera families, from Porirua, are descended.
