There are also other McGruer firms, also drapers, listed at Hawera, Timaru, Invercargill, Gore and Feilding". There was also a branch at 138 Gladstone Road, Gisborne fl 1927-1929. Description: Two views of Gladstone Road, Gisborne, one with a jubilee arch celebrating 50 years of the Borough of Gisborne and the County of Cook; one of a man seated on a harpooned whale hauled up on the shore of Norfolk Island; and a man unloading a row boat caught in a big wave off a stone jetty on Norfolk Isalnd with the New Zealand Government Steamer Hinemoa moored just off the shore. Photographer unknown. The boat pictured in 1/4-015143 was smashed on the rocks just after the photograph was taken (source: accession card).
