Crystal Springs Mineral Water Works

In 1893, operated the Crystal Springs Mineral Water Works in Dunedin, Wellington, Napier and Invercargill. Firm of aerated water and cordial manufacturers established in 1866 by Alexander Thomson (1845-1904) and two partners who retired soon after, leaving Alexander Thomson as sole proprietor. Main building in the complex built in 1876. A specialty produced by the firm was the "Wairongoa" mineral water, taken from springs situated at North Taieri. Thomson's owned 160 acres, and constructed buildings to conserve the natural medicinal waters for bottling for the local market, and for export to Australia.
