Description: Photographs taken or collected by A P Godber, circa 1920s to 1947, almost all relating to the railways. Most prints have an inscription such as 'NZR NI Scene', NZR SI Scene' or 'NZR Locomotive'. Includes images of trains, railway lines, bridges, railway stations, and interiors of the Hutt, Petone and Hillside workshops. Some are by WW Stewart and there are two of Kaikoura Railway Station ca 1940s, by A Sanders. There are also a few images relating to Maori, including an exterior view of Hui-Te-Rangiora Church, Puketeraki, 1926; and one inscribed 'Maori Church, Rukemoana Pa, Waikato' which shows the front of a meeting house with the words 'Puki-o-Matariki' above the entrance. Description: Photograph of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Co. Baldwin locomotive no. 5. Taken between 1902 when it was built and 1908 when the Government acquired the Manawatu Railway and it became NZR "Nc" 461. Stamp on verso of the photograph reads "W. W. Stewart Collection". Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works, Philadelphia (maker's no. 19797/01), went into service as WMR 5 in May 1902, became NZR "Nc" class 461 in December 1908, and was written off in March 1931.
