Derry Castle (Ship : 1883-1887)

Iron barque of 1367 tons, built at Glasgow in 1883. Owned by F Spaight of Liverpool. En route from Geelong to Falmouth, she was wrecked on Enderby Island in the Auckland Islands group, on 20th March 1887. Her figurehead was found and placed at the head of the graves of the 15 who lost their lives (8 were saved). In 1945 the figurehead was brought to New Zealand and placed in the Christchurch Museum.
