He manu itiiti, kei ngā wāhi katoa. He kōkirikiri, he kōtiutiu te rere, he kaikai ngārara. He pango te tinana, ko te remu he kōheuheu te hanga, he tauhokohoko he mā he pango.

A common darting bird which feeds on insects. It is easily identified by its white and black fan shaped tail. Rhipidura fuliginosa.

Description: Most of the windows are of geometric design using unpainted coloured glass. Many of these windows have realistically painted inserts depicting birds on leafy branches -- some of them native birds, and in one case the head and upper body of a woman in a classical style. Description: Mostly windows of geometric design using unpainted coloured glass. Many have realistically painted inserts depicting birds on leafy branches. A number of these are native birds. One set of entrance windows is in an art nouveau style overall with realistically painted birds on inset discs of glass. One of the set of windows in this section belonging to the Historic Places Trust is currently (1998) housed at the Dowse Art Museum. These with their pictures of native birds came from the chemist shop of W C Fitzgerald, Lambton Quay and Willis Street Wellington. Another window from the same source in this section, also belonging to the Historic Places Trust, is also housed in the Dowse Art Museum. It depicts a leafy shrub growing out of a pot, surrounded by a boarder of round coloured pieces of glass and leaf scrolls. Quantity: 24 colour original transparency/ies.

Description: Shows a pukeko on a teacher's mortar board, using a pointer and a blackboard to teach the message of care to prevent forest fires. Its pupils are a kiwi in checked shorts, a kingfisher and a rabbit, while a tui and a fantail watch from above. The setting is a native forest with kowhai flowers and ferns. The blackboard is propped on a easel carved with Maori motifs. The State Forest Service was issuing various warnings to trampers and cigarette smokers during the 1940s, particularly in newspapers for 1948. The State Forest Service was renamed the New Zealand Forest Service in December 1949, so this poster predates the change. It is unlikely to have been made before 1940 although the State Forest Service was operating in the 1920s. Quantity: 1 colour photo-mechanical print(s) on poster..
