Recalls social life with reference to Womens Institute starting up. Recalls marriage to Edward McCreanor and experience during 1951 Wharf strike - five months without wages as husband worked at Lyttelton Wharf. Discusses involvement with New Zealand Labour Party - set up labour branch at Dunsandel and was Secretary of Papanui Branch (1952) - reference to Jock Mathieson MP. Recalls starting Labour Party Debutante Balls - explains organisation of balls with reference to Walter Nash, Norman Kirk and Arnold Nordmeyer. Discusses junior branch structure and recalls Norman Kirk disagreeing with Junior Branches. Comments on the Papanui electorate and Labour Party ties with the University of Canterbury.
