Began career as a gardener at the Dunedin Botanical Gardens (1936-1946); studied with the NZ Institute of Horticulture (1946-1949), and the Royal College of Art in the School of Architecture (1950-1951). Landscape architect with Peter Youngman (1946-1948) and then with her own landscape architecture business. Daughter of Brian Cuthbert Lysaght (1867-1934) and Emily Muriel (née Stowe). Married John Harold Watt and resident in Brooklyn, Wellington for most of her married life. Known as Mary. Date of birth, 27 March 1917, date of death (in Wellington) 2 July 2005.
