Description: Photographic prints of images from three rolls of film, taken by Judith Binney between May and Oct 1995. Photographs were taken at a range of locations in New Zealand, particularly Ratana/Parewanui/Aorangi areas and the East Coast. A few taken at Hokianga Island, Bay of Plenty and there is a set of 10 Binney has identified as 'Hokianga & Ohiwa, Te Karaka' (these may be Hokianga Island area in the Ohiwa Harbour). Also some images also taken during a trip to Sydney, Australia, mainly buildings excavations at Susannah Place. Also a set showing the special flax paper cases, made by Maureen Lander (and possibly also J Bassett - as both feature in the images), for Binney's book 'Redemption Songs'. Also a snap of Binney, and another two showing Binney and an unidentified woman. Description: Transparencies of Māori churches in New Zealand, taken by Geoffrey Thornton or Jocelyn Thornton. Each slide mount, except one, is annotated with the name and the location of the church. Dates and photographer name are sometimes annotated. Churches and locations annotated on the slide mounts include Eraia Church near Kaitaia, Te Aoranga Church at Kariaka near Ruatoria, Wheriko Church at Parewanui, St Mary's at Tikitiki, and Centennial Church at Otakou. Title transcribed from item. Most transparencies are undated. Arrangement: Transparencies were arranged in a small plastic slide case, with a capacity of approximately 40 mounted transparencies, labelled "Maori Churches". There was no apparent order.
