Lampen, Francis Henry (Major), 1880?-1950

D.S.O. According to the Hawera and Normanby Star, he "joined the Indian Army in 1900 at the time of the South African war, and took two transports with troops from India to South Africa, these troops being Driscoll's Scouts and Lumsden's Horse. Being in the Indian Army, Major Lampen was debarred from personally participating in war. Subsequently he went to the Russo- Japanese war in an unofficial capacity. He spent his leave there.
