Admiral in the Royal Navy. Joined in 1851, and served on the China Station 1874-1877. Promoted to Rear-Admiral in 1894 and was Commander in Chief of the Australian Station 1894-1898. From 1901-1904 he was Vice Admiral, Commander in Chief, China Station. Published a memoir, Some recollections, in 1918. Nephew of Major Cyprian Bridge (1807-1885), son of Archdeacon Thomas Hobday Bridge of St John's.
