Description: Album of tourist photographs of the North Island from the 1880s, many taken by identified photographers including J M (Josiah Martin), the Burton Brothers, and Wheeler & Son. There are a number of images of Waiwera, including one of two whaleboats meeting a horse-drawn carriage transporting a group of people from a steamer to land. Photographs relating to Maori include views of Parihaka; Taipari's house at Thames; Ngati Maniapoto chief Wahanui at his house, Alexandra; a large group in a hot pool at Whakarewarewa; and one of Aporo and Ngareta at Wairoa.
