Talks about his time working in the Clerk's Office 1945-1964, appointed Records Clerk in 1945, then Clerk of Journals and Records and Second Clerk-Assistant in 1954 taking over from Les Middleton. Refers to others who came through from the Railways Appeal Board such as Neil Dollimore, Fred Manderson and Allan Sutherland. Description: Shows New Zealand Prime minister, David Lange, and another man eating sumptuous dinners in Bellamy's, the parliamentary restaurant. Outside the window is a furious crowd demonstrating about food prices. David Lange, oblivious to the feeling of the crowd tells them to eat sweets and ice-cream. Refers to food price increases brought about by GST. There is also a reference to the famous anecdote of the French Revolution when Marie Antoinette told the starving masses to eat cake since they were complaining of lack of bread.
