Includes some notes in Eileen Cowan's hand relating to the planning of a new publication of Kimble Bent; a letter from Tunui Amoa (Kimble Bent) to James Cowan dated 1 January 1907; two telegraphs dated 16 June 1916 announcing the death of Kimble Bent (one refers to him as Tunuiamoa), sent to Dr Bennett and Mere Rore from James Cowan; and a letter from Whitcombe & Tombs relating to payment to Cowan for the rights to publish the Kimble Bent book, dated 25 February 1911. Also includes a letter from Gustavus von Tempsky's granddaughter P Audrey Platten (née Audrey Phyliss Kettle), dated 30 December 1936, containing von Tempsky's autograph (from a letter); a certificate from Buckingham Palace awarding James Cowan with a coronation medal, dated 1937; clippings of reviews of reissues of Cowan's books (probably sent to Eileen Cowan) dated 1967. Two waiata tangi (laments) written in the hand of Henry Stowell. One of which says it is "He waiata tangi na tetahi wahine i mahue i te taane" with an annotation by Cowan which says "na Kimble Bent" and the other says "He waiata tangi na Hera Waitaoro" which begins with "Tera te uira hokoia ana mai tangi pake ai..."
