Has produced drama and prose works drawing on his experiences as bushman, builder, farm worker, prison inmate, singer and father, and the experience of Maori in the late twentieth century. Play titles include 'Broken arse' and 'Thunderbox'. President of Nga Puna Waihanga (Maori Writers and Artists Society) in 1982.
