Accountant. Born in St John's, Southwark, Surrey, the son of John Ledger, a dyer, and Frances Ann Ledger (née Goulding). Husband of Sarah Jane Ledger (née Hickson; 1845?-1883), eldest daughter of William Hickson, merchant of Wellington. Married on 13 Jan 1863 at St Peter's Church, Te Aro, Wellington (Wellington independent, 17 Jan 1863, p 3). Died aged 63 years. Buried with his daughter Ada Evelyn Ledger (who died aged 5 years, in May 1870), in the family plot at Bolton Street Cemetery, Wellington.
