He was handicapped by blindness. Married Kate (Catherine) Nathan, sister of Joseph Edward Nathan (1835-1912), and later Rosetta Joseph, third daughter of Nathan Joseph, on 23 Aug 1877 at Sydney, New South Wales. Father of Joseph Joseph, and three daughters (the eldest of whom married Walter Nathan).
