Son of James Aikman and May Campbell. Came to Canterbury with his brothers in the first years of the settlement (arrived on the 'Dolphin' in 1854), and took up Mount Fourpeaks station in 1858, selling it a year or two later. Represented Heathcote in the Canterbury Provincial Council (1863-1865). Afterwards in business in Christchurch as an auctioneer, and was a lieutenant in the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry. Associated with Aikman & Wilson (Firm). Died in 1875 aged 51 years.
