Hoggard, Thomas William, 1817-1862

Landowner of Wellington. Born St Johns Antigua. Arrived in Wellington from London aboard 'Indemnity' 1842. Established Simmonds and Hoggard flour mill, Mt Victoria, Wellington. Brother of John Farr Hoggard (1815-1871). Formed a relationship with Sarah Cording in 1845 and had two children with her, Kate (1846-1869) and William Thomas (1852-1924). In 1853 they married. (After the death of Thomas Hoggard, Sarah married Lipman Levy. Sarah died in 1881, and was buried in the Hoggard family plot, at Bolton Street Cemetery, Wellington.
