Born in Birminghman, son of John Wallace (1788-1880) and Elizabeth (née Rollaston). Arrived in New Plymouth with his father on the 'Amelia Thompson' on 3 Sep 1841. Married Ellen Oakley at St Pauls, Wellington, 10 Mar 1860. Business partner of Charles Augustus Vallance, Tawanui Station, South Wairarapa. His wife died in 1875. Buried with two of their children in Bolton Street Cemetery, Wellington. His occupation recorded as a sheep inspector on his death certificate.
