Description: Scrapbook, chiefly of mounted press cuttings, contributions to the Launceston Examiner, 1845-1851 by Burt about his time on St Helena in 1815; with 4 pages of items dated 1896. Drawings are "Banks of River Hoogly" by Dr A. Beale, and 4 of Bengal, 1 of Napoleon's Tomb at St Helena by John Burt (some signed 1830 - 1833). Loose sketches by Burt and Beale transferred to A-126-016/027. Mounted sketches are entitled 'Saugor 1830, J. Burt'; 'Shikapoor Bungalow, Saugar Island, Bengal, May 21st 1833 / sketched by J. B.'; 'Kotub Minar'; ['Sunset behind an Arab or Indian fortress by the sea'] and 'Tomb of Napoleon at St Helena / by J. Burt', this last possibly dated 1816. There are also an engraving of Napoleon and a second engraving, loose in the back of the volume, entitled 'Shade of Napoleon visiting his tomb' Inscriptions: On flyleaf: Mrs John Burt Quantity: 1 sketchbook(s).
