Description: Colour and black and white prints of images taken at the launch of the book "Nga Morehu: The survivors" by Binney and Gillian Chaplin, by Gil Hanly on the 27th of November 1986 at Waipapa Marae, University of Auckland. The images show people at an outdoor gathering where they move on to the marae grounds, are seated, listen to speeches and talk together afterwards. Reverend Tawhao Tioke is one of the speakers. Some show Binney and Gillian Chaplin as they stand around a table with many copies of "Nga Morehu" which are later given out. Many show people holding the book. Particularly featured are five of the women who were interviewed for the book: Hei Ariki Algie, Heni Brown, Maaka Jones, Heni Sunderland and Miria Rua. Others include Ranginui Walker, the daughters of Huti Onekawa - Noti and Moe, and the daughters of Reremoana Koopu - Iri Koopu and Toma Walker. One image taken by The Bay of Plenty Times. Others taken by an unidentified photographer. The images show people at an indoor gathering. Te Akakura Rua features in many of them, wearing her mother's greenstone brooch. Also features Binney, Gillian Chaplin, Tom Collins, Dr Ranginui Walker, Dick Scott, Greer Twiss, and possibly Elizabeth Mountain.
