The Spines (Musical group)

New Zealand band originally formed by songwriter Jon McLeary (vocals, guitar) in 1981 with Caroline Easther (drums, vocals) and Rob Mahoney (bass, vocals ) to perform McLeary's songs. Other members in a changing line up included Wendy Calder (bass), Neill Duncan (sax, drums), Tim Robinson (drums) and Ross Burge (drums). They released albums for Ripper Records, Jayrem and Flying Nun. The band released their first album since 1986 in September 2017 with Malky Taylor (drums), Les Knight (bass) and Hannah Fraser (keyboards, violin and vocals) joining McLeary's guitar and vocals.
