International non-government ogranization (NGO) of women university graduates from 78 national federations and associations worldwide. It was founded in the wake of the First World War by both British and North American college and university workers who were hoping to contribure to congenial relations between women of different nationalities and to improve general education of women.

Source of title - Supplied title The New Zealand Federation of University Women, part of a movement after World War I to unite graduates of different countries for peace through friendship and understanding, was formed in 1922 after New Zealand women attended the 1922 International Conference in Paris. The aims of the Federation are to promote understanding and cooperation among university women, to represent women graduates in relevant matters, and to encourage research by university women. The Federation is concerned with problems of careers for women and the status of married women in the professions.
