In 1860 Criffel Station was acquired by Henry Campbell as part of the Wanaka Station. Purchased by Percy Sargood on May 1912

Description: Panoramic photograph of a single-storeyed wooden house with a two-storeyed wing on the left where there is an attic room with a balcony out over a bay below. Iron roof, shingle in gables. Verandah in centre with bays on either side. Tussock grass in foreground, willows far left, climbing roses on house, rose bushes and hedges, tall trees all around including a row of poplars to the right of the house. Various fir trees. High hills behind. Photograph taken by Robert Percy Moore. Inscriptions: Marginal notes on negative - Mrs P R Sargood, Dunedin. 3 oils. Cream house, brown facings, dark red roof, large tree on left bluish green. Large rose bush on left of lawn, make mass of cream roses. This bush has 1,000 blooms on. Tussocky hills.
