Retired educationalist (Who's Who in NZ, 1991). Visited USSR in 1934-1935 as part of Friends of Soviet Union delegation, and subsequently denounced the USSR. Taught in Wellington. Largely responsible for introducting `new mathematics' to New Zealand after 1959-1960 visit to USA. Subsequently worked as UNESCO maths expert in Uganda and Zanzibar, and at various USA universities. Died 15 Feb 2000.
