Building consecrated November 1868. The chancel was designed by Charles Edward Beatson, and built in 1871. The final tall tower was built in 1890.

Description: Shows west elevation of a wooden church building (probably All Saints' Church, Nelson) revised north elevation, transverse section, and longitudinal section. There is a clerestory level as on the church as it was built in 1868; therefore this may be an 1868 revision of the original 1867 plan. The ground floor windows are triple and those at clerestory level are pairs. Other plans of this church are entitled and identified by donor. Description: An album probably created, and chiefly photographed by George William Barltrop, between 1872 (one image of the laying of the foundation stone of (?) Provincial Buildings in 1872), and the rest being views of New Zealand taken in the late 1890s. One sequence of images shows St Thomas' Church (Newtown, Wellington) under construction, and both exterior and interior views when finished, in 1895. One image shows the wreck of the SS Wairarapa in 1894, and there are views of several lighthouses around New Zealand, two of which were taken by the Burton Brothers. A number of scenes are taken in the Nelson area, including several of the Dun Mountain railway (for the Dun Mountain Copper Mining Company), the Maitai River and valley, Nelson City, and Washington Valley. Description: Shows south elevation of a wooden church building (purportedly All Saints' Church, Nelson) with a belfry and circular apse at the right. The walls have windows in the upper half but there is no clerestory as on the church as it was built in 1868. The final belfry tower was taller and was not built until 1890. This is possibly the first draft plan, of December 1867, later revised, March 1868. Title and identification of church supplied by the donor.
