Talks about his work in New Zealand for the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries as a farm buildings advisory officer and his time as a Town Planning lecturer. Recalls meetings with Lillian and David Chrystall and the `Chrystall Group', and lists the group's members. Talks of house restoration as a New Zealand tradition and contrasts New Zealand's policy of attracting trained emigrants to professional hostility towards emigrant colleagues. Description: Correspondence, chiefly in German, relating to efforts made by Helmut to emigrate from Germany to a country that was willing to accept him. During this time Helmut made efforts to migrate to Sweden, United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Amongst others, Helmut corresponded with Gerhard Rosenberg in England who put him in touch with his brother Wolfgang living in New Zealand. Wolfgang found Helmut a job and arranged guarantors for him, which were conditions of his being granted entry into New Zealand. Also includes correspondence relating to Ester's successful efforts to obtain a post as a domestic servant in England with the assistance of the Jewish Aid Committee (London).
