Blind Low Vision

Founded in 1890 at Auckland. Formed from the Association of the Friends of the Blind, 1889. Later known as the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind. From 1989 promoted the 'Talking Book of the Year Narrator's Award'.

The Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind Act 2002 was enacted in 2002, leading to a name change, from 'Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind' to 'Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind (RNZFB)'. From 2013, 'Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind' continued as the official legal entity and 'Blind Foundation' as the corporate brand. Now known as Blind Low Vision NZ (BLVNZ).
