Description: Top view (with title): high country view with hills and lakes. Lower view (upside-down) two lakes at the base of high hills. Two views of part of The Lakes station, with Lake Taylor (named after runholder Henry Taylor) and Lake Sheppard in the Oronoco Range, North Canterbury. The sheet was once folded in half then twice more at right-angles Henry Taylor held The Lakes run between 1857 and 1867. He drowned in the Teremakau River on the West Coast in 1867. Crawford writes of this visit early in 1864 in a chapter entitled "A visit to the Hurunui Lakes" in his book "Recollections of travels in New Zealand and Australia", (London, 1880).
