Description: Printed membership diploma issued to Julius von Haast by German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, dated 2 November 1864. The name of the president at the time, Carl Gustav Carus is printed on the certificate. Printed by E Blochmann and Son in Dresden. The academy bestowed on Haast the privilege of using the cognomen "De Buch IV", after the German geologist and palaeontologist Leopold von Buch (1774-1853). Title transcribed from item.
