Alexander Turnbull Library. New Zealand Cartoon Archive
Cartoon Archive (N.Z.)
Established on 1 April 1992, the New Zealand Cartoon Archive (NZCA) was operated as a partnership between the Alexander Turnbull Library (ATL) and the New Zealand Cartoon Archive Trust. The NZCA was a self-supporting organisation administered by the New Zealand Cartoon Archive Trust, with the Library processing and preserving the collection.
In 2005 the NZCA was absorbed into the Alexander Turnbull Library, and the Trust's funds were lodged with the ATL endowment fund. In 2010 with ATL restructure the NZCA became a formed collection within the Library unpublished collections.
As of 2006, the NZCA funds are administered by the Guardians of the NZ Cartoon Archive (established 2006) who use them to promote awareness of the New Zealand Cartoon Archive collection through exhibitions, publications, awards, and events.
