He married Josephine Thornton in Canada and they had 1 daughter, Alice Kathleen, and 3 sons. Later served in India and Afghanistan. His brother, Henry Frederick Meadows settled in New Zealand and his youngest son, Mereweather Meadows, a musician, came to New Zealand.
