May refer to Vsevolod Sofinsky, the Soviet Union ambassador who was expelled from New Zealand in 1980 for allegedly giving money to the SUP (Socialist Unity Party). The other drawings shows a full figure of an unidentified man and text reading "weekend ban on petrol sales to be lifted BIRCH" and "Marginal Lands Board inquiry $106 thou". May refer to Bill Birch, Minister of Energy for Muldoon's National government; the lifting of a weekend ban on petrol sales, and the Marginal Lands Board inquiry which involved National Party MP Duncan MacIntyre who served as Deputy Prime Minister 1981-1984.
