Printer, Methodist lay preacher and trade unionist. Came to Otago 1872; worked on various Dunedin, Central Otago and Southland newspapers before moving to Christchurch 1883. Canterbury delegate to the Trades and Labour conference 1893; secretary to the Canterbury Trades and labour Council 1894-1895; founder of the Christchurch Typographical Association.
