Hoby, Arthur, 1852-1947

Dentist. Hoby had a practice first in New Plymouth, later in Willis Street, Wellington. He and his wife, Clara Barnett, returned to England for a visit in 1879 and came back to New Zealand in 1881. Married 18 May 1881 in Kent, England. Five children. See Cyclopedia of New Zealand, and New Zealand Biographies Index. Member of the Vivian Street Baptist Church, as a Bible Class leader for 33 years, and as Treasurer for 39 years. Laid the Foundation Stone of the Petone Baptist Church in May 1903.
