Dentist. Hoby had a practice first in New Plymouth, later in Willis Street, Wellington. He and his wife, Clara Barnett, returned to England for a visit in 1879 and came back to New Zealand in 1881. Member of the Vivian Street Baptist Church, as a Bible Class leader for 33 years, and as Treasurer for 39 years. Laid the Foundation Stone of the Petone Baptist Church in May 1903.
