Bayliss, Charles, 1850-1897

Probably one of Australia's greatest nineteenth-century photographer. In his day Bayliss's work was highly regarded and he received numerous prestigious government commissions. He was apprenticed to Beaufoy Merlin 1870-1873, worked for B O Holtermann, 1873-1875, and worked independently from 1876 until his death in 1897 aged 47.
