Description: Shows a head and shoulders portrait of an older Maori woman wearing a yellow scarf around her neck, a greenstone earring, and chin moko. She is smoking a pipe, and her eyes look downwards. The subject is Ina Te Papatahi, of Nga Puhi iwi. See a profile portrait made in 1902 of the same woman smoking, in Roger Blackley's "Goldie" (Auckland, 1997), page 97. She wears the same yellow scarf in this portrait. Text below the image reads: "Reproduced by courtesy of the Trustees of the late James Jamieson, Christchurch, from one of the collection given by him to the city of Christchurch. The painting will be housed with the rest of the collection in the new Art Gallery".
