Description: Shows scenes from the Dutch community annual Sinterklaas (Santa Claus) celebration, in Wellington, 1979, held on December 5th, the feast day of Saint Nikolas. The figure of Saint Nikolas, wearing a bishop's mitre and robe, and carrying a crozier, is seen in a rowing boat (the Tamatoa, Petone) and on arrival on the beach at Petone, with Matiu/Somes Island in the background. Description: Shows scenes from the Dutch community annual Sinterklaas (Santa Claus) celebration, in Wellington, 1979, held on December 5th, the feast day of Saint Nikolas. A group in Dutch costume surrounds and follows an open touring Austin Twenty car collecting St Nikolas from Petone Beach (frames 1 to 4), while four women, one in Dutch costume, stand against a wall watching proceedings (frames 5 to 7). Frames 8 to 12 show people during an evangelical parade starting at Parliament Buildings. Two people have been identified as Chris Lusk pushing his wife Prue in a wheelchair down a path at Parlliament. They, and two other people with them are wearing stickers which possibly read "Jesus Celebration". A placard is being carried "All hail King Jesus" (frames 11 and 12).
