- Description
A photograph taken by George Henry Swan in 1862, which was the fifth in a nine-part panoramic photograph of Wellington's waterfront area. Depicts multiple buildings and unidentified people, with the ridgeline and more buildlings in the background. The Crown and Anchor Hotel is visible in the centre of the photo, and the house of John Farr Hoggard is prominent on the ridge behind it. There are multiple unidentified men in the foreground, some standing and some pushing wagons, likely working on the reclamation of Wellington Harbour.
This photograph has previously been exhibited at the Adam Art Gallery's exhibition 'Still looking: Peter McLeavey and the last photograph', 6 October - 20 December 2018. Information from the exhibition has informed the description of this item.
