- Description
A half-length frontal portrait of a young Maori man. He wears a blue shirt with a blanket draped over his left shoulder. His hair is cut in a bowl-style. He wears a long drop earring with a tooth, and has a full facial moko. Hutton writes about him: 'Robert the man of war ship, as his name signifies, an arrant scamp, who after having been in our service for some months, decamps with several articles of clothing [which] did not belong to him.'
