Postcard shows a photograph of a tank, making progress over uneven ground in a barren landscape.
The verso contains a handwritten message dated Jan 14/17, to Joye Eggers of Lalemanogi, Karaka Bay, Wellington: "My dear Joye, I think this will interest the children. O look forward to the poems of Nita and Iris - & to little truants. War Fairies here has been a great success. Thanks for Pelorus Jack who arrived safely, but not the paper - so far - I am quoting from your letter in V.L. Notes of January - You will like the forget me not poems. I hope I shall have one from you for Mme C."
Other Titles - "Tommy's" nickname for a trench mortar is a "Flying pig", and this picture shows some of our men loading one of these useful useful weapons.
