Colour photographs relating to the Sonja Davies Peace Award ceremonies in 2004 and 2005, taken by unidentified photographer(s).
The set of prints taken on 10 November 2004 show the first awards ceremony and reception at Government House, Wellington. Images show guests waiting for the ceremony to start, Prime Minister Helen Clark making a speech, musical performers, the award winners Ruth Greenaway and Kathleen Gallagher making acceptance speeches and singing with a small group (including Pauline Tangiora, Michael Cullen, Rae Julian, and two other women).
Included were two images of Ruth Greenaway and Kathleen Gallagher talking in a sitting room.
The set of prints taken on 10 November 2005 show the second awards ceremony in the National Library of New Zealand theatrette, Wellington. Images show: speeches being made by Prime Minister Helen Clark and film maker Gaylene Preston and an unidentified woman, photographs on display boards, flowers being presented to Preston, Nicky Hager, Kate Dewes, and unidentified others, two young Muslim women are presented with an award by Helen Clark, Richard Nunns playing a pūtatara. Images of audience members include Pauline Tangiora.
Included is a portrait of Sonja Davies and Margaret Wilson, Speaker of the House of Representatives, probably taken in November 2004.
Events and some persons are identified by inscriptions on the reverse of prints, and the envelopes which enclosed the prints on delivery to the Library.
